Can you smell it? Right there…when you lean forward a little.
Hmmm. Warm and inviting, with a promising breeze; with rays of sunlight teasing my whiskers and brushing, ever so slightly, all the stripes on my back.
At last! I can smell the sweet and balmy air of Springtime! How exciting! 

It is still cold and breezy in my neck of the woods. I managed to go outside for a while, but it is not fun to sit on the stone with a cold breeze hitting your back. So instead of fighting the weather I decided to go through my pantry and assess my food stash.

I had a lazy Sunday, which is quite rare for a chipmunk, I do realize. But, today I simply did not feel like doing anything. Does it ever happen to you? Besides, I think that am still in my slow, winter mode. The snow is still on the ground, it is cold and windy. So, I decided to spend the day in my burrow reminiscing past months. Fall months, in particular.

When I woke up this morning, it was foggy outside and all was covered with ice. The day did not seem like anything one could enjoy. Betsy, the Red-tailed Hawk who lives in the area was at her usual spot, perched on a branch of a dying elm tree. Her wings were droopy. She looked hungry, and her partner, Henry, was no where in sight.
